Current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Edge announced on Raw that he was being forced to retire due to his neck being injured. AWWE.com story states that Edge had been suffering from numbness and uncontrollable trembling in his arms and hands, known as neuropraxia.

Edge had his C5-7 vertebrae fused in 2003 after suffering a broken neck. He received an MRI in Atlanta this past Monday and the results were sent to Dr. Joseph Maroon, a renowned neurosurgeon and head of WWE's Wellness Policy. Dr. Maroon determined the risk to Edge's health was too great and declared him permanently ineligible to wrestle.
